Collared Dove. White wing bars distinguish it from other finches. Its patterned plumage helps it to blend in when feeding on the ground and it becomes most obvious when it flies, revealing a flash of white on the wings and white outer tail feathers. It also has black wings and tail with prominent white patches. The lower part shows black and white streaks, but with more beige on the chest and sometimes on the flanks than in the reproductive plumage. Young Red-headed Woodpeckers molt from gray-black heads to all-red heads. Dark-tipped wings with grey panel. Underparts: The underparts are a plain, dull gray and may show some faint blurriness but lack distinct markings. Female is duller. Thick seed-eating bill. The extent of that visibility can vary depending on the bird's posture and feather positions. Male is pink below with blue cap in summer.
The goldfinch is a colourful British garden bird, with its vibrant red face and yellow wing.
Buoyant, graceful pigeon-like flight with fluttering wing strokes alternating with soaring glides. If you’re looking with your eyes you should see a black head with white cheeks. The female has a brown head, neck and back with sparrow-like black streaks. Wings: The primary feathers and secondary feathers are brown with black centers. You’ll usually hear chaffinches before you see them, with their loud song and varied calls. The beak is orange-yellow to reddish-brown depending on the subspecies. The medium and secondary major cover feathers are noticeably bordered with beige. White-tailed Tropicbird: This large white bird has a long black bar on upperwing coverts and outer primaries, black loral mask which extends through and past the eye, yellow-orange bill, white tail streamers, yellow legs and feet and black webbed toes. Goldfinch. Delicate shy bird that creeps along the ground looking for food. It has a clear, gray breast and belly, long tail, and wings distinctly marked with two white wing-bars. Prunella modularis. Red-headed Woodpeckers, whether male or female, look alike, wearing tuxedo-like plumage with all-red heads from throat, completely over the head and down the back of the head to the base of the neck. 4. Its breast is dark to tawny orange in color.
If you are listening with your ears, a two-syllable song is your give away. In the course of the molt, their heads look splotchy (see photo at right), and their wing tips are not yet fully white. Feeds on fish and squid.
