Uterus didelphys (sometimes also uterus didelphis) represents a uterine malformation where the uterus is present as a paired organ when the embryogenetic fusion of the Müllerian ducts fails to occur. The didelphic womb is split in two, with each side having its own cavity. Many women who have this condition carry their pregnancies to full term or nearly full term to have a healthy baby. However, in some cases, there is a bicornuate or septate uterus, which may possess a noncommunicating uterine horn.
