This is a playful, persistent cat who adores being the center of attention and will do anything to achieve and maintain that status. Except their long coat type, most of their features are very similar to those of their Abyssinian cousins. The coat is longer around the ruff, tummy, and britches – with that lovely, fluffy, full tail. These medium build cats have a well-muscled structure. The feet have tufts of hair between the toes. The Somali loves to play, so plan on making or purchasing a variety of toys to keep him occupied. The medium-length, soft and silky coat requires little grooming. Ping-Pong balls, bottle caps, wadded-up pieces of paper, puzzle toys and teasers such as big peacock feathers will all amuse this busy and brainy cat. The Somali is a well-proportioned, medium-sized cat with firm muscular development. The Somali Cat is a long-haired, fluffy-tailed variety of the Abyssinian cats that has widely been accepted as an independent breed.
